One my my language helpers from a few years ago just visited me with her soon-to-be husband to give me their wedding invitation. It was funny to think back when I first met her how hard it was to communicate. She is working in Phnom Penh and her fiance (is that how you spell it?) lives and works in a province about half a days drive from Phnom Penh. I asked them where they will live after they get married and it turns out they will both keep living in their respective places. He has an agreement with a missionary to keep working at the church, and she has a job in the city. So they will spend the first bit of their married life living in different towns! They actually wanted to wait longer to get married, so they could live together straight away, but their families disagreed. I've heard of this sort of thing with other couples, but I still find it strange.
She told me a friend from her home town hasn't been seen since that night on the bridge. Her family checked in all the hospitals and searched through the dead but they haven't found her.
