Last night the power went off. That's not unusual, but the strange thing was that it flickered before if finally went out. Then we heard all these people out in the street, like something had happened, but more noisy than the crowds after a traffic accident.
I turned out there had been 2 fires in the street, on the electrical poles and lines. They were really big fires and the the flames started going along the wires - scary!
Anyway, they got it under control, and it all seems to be OK now.
It was the second time within the last month that our neighbours have had cause to grab the fire extinguisher. The other week a house had a fire burning inside so all the staff ran out to have a look.
