I wasn’t going to stay for lunch at church today. Soeun and I usually eat with everyone after the service, but I always feel so tired after a Khmer service I just want to go home and sleep. The smell of the fishy food cooking doesn’t make me feel hungry, quite the opposite. A few Sundays ago I actually spent the day vomiting and feeling really queasy all day. The memory of that also deters my stomach from wanting to eat at church.
Straight after the service a girl took me into the kitchen to show me the special Khmer food they were cooking for lunch today, so it felt rude to leave after that.
